Sorry, I couldn't find this last week! Presently I am employed by Eaglemark Financial Services in the Corporate Communications department. One of my main functions is to work together with our parent company, Harley-Davidson, Inc. on dealer communications. A key initiative we have in place for the year is to expand the H-D website to include electronic commerce. I have completed 2/3 of my MBA degree at DePaul and have an emphasis in Marketing. I think the topic of E-commerce is very exciting and look forward to learning more in class.

I am an SAP Project Administrator for UOP LLC, a refining company owned by AlliedSignal, Honeywell and Union Carbide. I hope to become more intimately familiar with the Internet and learn the basics for an Internet based business. The Internet is a large animal, and I am looking for some tools to learn how to master it!

I am a software engineer at Motorola Land Mobile Products (cop radios). I write in C, and Ive done some k-shell scripting. My MBA concentration is MIS. Only three more classes, baby! I hope to uncover a few secrets about the web (Ive already learned a few things from the first lecture) and I hope to get a better understanding of which business needs are well suited for the internet, and which ones aren't.

I am an auditor who naturally has an accounting and finance background. For purposes of this course, I would like to cover various issues related to the internet and ecommerce, such as developing web pages and establishing businesses on the internet.

I am employed by Xerox Corporation. My job is to sell Xerox' outsourcing services (i.e mailroom staffing, print shop staffing, etc.) I look forward to studying how different company's have adopted ecommerce strategies and how these strategies have impacted their business. Also, I look forward to learning more about how you started your own business in this field. My concentration is Marketing. 11 of 19 classes completed towards my MBA thus far.

I have worked at E&Y in Management Consulting for the last two years. Before that, I worked for 13 years as a controller for major international real estate management companies. I have a real passion for technology and hope that this course can help me identify a career path in the area of E-Commerce - either on the development side or the strategy side (I haven't decided where I want to specialize).

I'm currently in the Finance/Accocunting field. But I sure as hell don't want to work for someone else for the rest of my life. I have an internet business idea as well as an investor. However, my business plan has to be refined. From my first class with Matt, I know I will gain a great deal. I am a MBA/MIS student at DePaul. I am extremely interested in obtaining a better understanding of technology - specifically, the internet - and how technology is, can, and will impact business. Ecommerce has been a 'buzz' word for quite some time. Through this class I expect to receive a better idea of what ecommerce is and how it can be applied in a practical use.

I am a project manager for a software development division within Ace Hardware Corporation. My concentration is MIS, and I hope to get a solid understanding of exactly what E-commerce is all about and the technical details about how an organization implements an E-commerce program.

My concentration is in Operations Management, though I am considering a second concentration in MIS. I work as an Economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, US Dept of Labor, tracking inflation and price changes for the Producer Price Index and the International Price Index. Aside from MIS 500, this is the only MIS course I have taken, and I intend to learn as much about the internet as possible. That is what I want to get out of this course.

I have been a consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers for five years. I am currently working on implementing a data warehouse for an investment company. I am an MBA/MIS student. I hope to learn an understanding of various applications of the internet to achieve business goals and meet strategic objectives.

I work for Van Kampen Funds in Oakbrook Terrace as a Portfolio Evaluator for the UIT department. Within our department I serve as the liason with our IT department as well as regular daily duties. My long term goal is to own my own business.

My Occupation: I work for Mobius Management Systems. I sell enterprise software solutions for document archival and report distribution. I currently am transitioning into a new role where I will be selling electronic bill presentment and payment solutions. What I expect from the class: I am hoping to increase my knowledge of the internet. I want to have a better understanding of how it is used in business today and how it will be used in business in the future. Depending on how this course goes, I am very interested in continuing with ecommerce II and III. I have read many articles about the earning potential of MBAs with a strong background in the internet.

I am a project engineer at UOP, which is a global company serving refineries and petrochemical industries. Currently, over 80% of world's gasoline supply is made by UOP's patented technology. So, chances are, if you drive, you probably use our technology under more familiar names like Amoco and MoBil. I graduated with mechanical engineering degree from U of I, Urbana-Champaign. I just finished Operations Management concentration, and in for few more quarters to add MIS centration to my MBA. I lack knowledge in e-commerce area, so I really don't know what to expect from this class. I hope to learn something that will make me understand the overall future direction of e-commerce, and its potential effects.

I am a consultant with the Zeal, Inc. I have been in the industry for almost five years, and recently became Microsoft Certified Professional. Currently I am working on my MS/MIS degree. In this class I hope to learn Internet security, and tools that will help be build e-commerce solutions.

I am the Product Manager of Customer Billing at Ameritech. My main responsibility is working as a liason between our internal business units and our IS department to find solutions that benefit both parties. It's a great job that exposes me to both sides of the business. What do I hope to get out of the class? I have noticed that no matter the subject (i.e. Finance, Management, Marketing) the one area where there are the most questions is the same area where there are no straight answers. That area is electronic commerce. I am here to expand my understanding of the subject and open up new career opportunities.

I am production planner for Advance Transformer Co. (Div. of Philips Electronics). My concentration is undecided at this point. I signed for this class because I want to learn more about E-Commerce and looking forward to learn how to build a web page.

I work for IPC, an association that represents the electronics incustries. As the Director of IS, I'm responsible for developing strategies and implementing new technologies. We are in the process of setting up on-line order fulfillment and meetings registrations databases and I hope to develop a good understanding of the potential of e-commerce and the issues surrounding these applications. I also look forward to using the tools provided to get a hands-on understanding of web development.

I am a consultant with the Global Professional Services division of Computer Associates. Most of my experience is with PICK applications for the Health Care industry. Since my consulting firm has been bought by CA I have recieved training and have begun the transition into web application development. I hope this this class will serve as catalyst for that transition.

I am currently a full-time student. In the past, I have started/owned/sold a real estate/constuction company, a tavern called Lakeview Links, and a direct mail catalog business.

I am an IT consultant for Keane. I am currently staffed on a Y2K project that is winding down. My next project may be a web development project so I hope the information from this class will help provide a foundation for that.

I am a mortgage broker who provides residential loans to clients with perfect, and less-than-perfect credit. I am involved in all aspects of the business, including sales, marketing, and management. My concentration will be entrepreneurship, and I am expecting to learn as much as possible about ecommerce. I want to be on the cutting edge of technology and business, and hopefully this class will start me on the right track.

I work for Unilever HPC, makers of products such as Suave, Dove, Degree, and Vaseline. The consumer products industry is evolving rapidly as companies decide how to go to market with non-traditional customers such as drugstore.com and Peapod. I am hoping this class provides me with the tools and insight to stay on the cutting edge of this ecommerce revolution.

Being thirtysomething and on the verge of being kicked out the door due to a merger, I hope that this and the other ecommerce courses will give me a headstart in a new career.

I am currently employed at CNA across the street from DePaul. I am currently responsible for Accident Operations wich is a $100 million plus business unit with locations in NY, LA, CHI, and Orlando. I am also heading up a project that I proposed to senior management regarding innovation and change. This project takes into account outlining a new business model that takes into account today's technology. Should be both a challange within the insurance industry!

My name is Nicki Pavisic and I work for a software company in Naperville. We provide Information Integrity solutions to our customers which include major banks, insurance companies, utility and telecom companies around the world. I am with the International Team as an International Business Development Rep so I travel quite a bit! I also manage our distributors in Italy, Spain, Australia and South America. I am really excited about E-Commerce II this Spring!! I took Matt's E-commerce class in the Fall - I learned a ton and met a lot of great people! I am also looking forward to learning a ton in E-Commerce II in terms of understanding what the key elements are to an effective online business startegy. I am hoping to take the concepts and ideas that I learn in this class and apply them to my job. I think we will all learn a lot - we have a great group of people for the first official E-commerce II class!!!

I work for the market research company Information Resources Inc (IRI). I am in software sales and call on our consumer packaged goods clients such as Keebler, Kellogg, Anheuser-Busch and the like. My job is to look for ways that we can electronically deliver scan data reports via hosted web sites as well as partnering with clients to maximize their trade funding with grovery retailers. This is my second e-commerce class with Matt and I look to gain more insight on what makes for an effective ecommerce sight as well as learn more about strategic thinking in regards to the internet and mananging technology as a whole

I am a Sr. Product Marketing Manager for a small software company here in the city. We specialize in publishing software. One of my responsibilities includes a product that allows for PDF creation directly from MVS applications. Therefore, I have been focusing much of my efforts on e-commerce and the benefits that this product provides to e-statementing. I am hoping that this class will allow me to get a broader view of e-commerce and its opportunities.

I am currently working as an Account Executive for Interlock Solutions, a small IT Training/Consulting firm established by one of my closest friends. I am a Microsoft Certified Professional. I am pursuing an MBA with a concentration in MIS. I have taken the first E-commerce course in a previous quarter. I am hoping that this course will build on that foundation.

I am currently a technical analyst at CNA Re. I took the first e-commerce course and found it very interesting. I look forward to reading the books and articles. By the end of the class I hope to do a better job of analyzing websites and understanding what makes a great website.

I work for the leading printing ink manufacturer, Sun Chemical, as an accounting supervisor/assistant controller. My concentration is in MIS and I hope to get some good information about competing on the web out of this course.

I currently work as a project manager for Andersen Consulting. I hold an internal position in their CIO group. My responsibilities currently include developing our technical architecture for our Domino server environment. I enrolled in this class because I have a desire to learn about ecommerce strategies and how companies can use the web to be more successful.

I am a finance manager for MCI Systemhouse, as of 5/1/99 I will be working for EDS due to a buyout. I am getting my concretation in MIS. My goal is to get into delivery side of the business and E-commerence is one of the areas that interests me, so I a looking at getting a better understanding of the field.

For the last seven years, I have been in the marketing department for Bell & Howell Corp. in the micrographics division....not exactly leading edge technology. I plan on finishing the MBA program next summer emphasising in both MIS and Change Management. My experience is limited compared with others in this class regarding ecommerce tech.

Currently, I am an Account Executive at Czarnowski Exhibits. Our company designs, builds, and provides services to the trade show and convention industry. After reading the course description, I decided to take the course because it sounded very interesting. Also, because I am interested in getting involved in ecommerce, as an occupation, in the future.

I am currently a real estate investment broker and analyst. I took the ecommerce 1 course and though it was great and want to learn more about how the internet can be used effectively. As an equity research analyst following retail stocks for The Northern Trust Company, I have watched many companies be rewarded and penalized for their internet strategies. From this class, I hope to improve my ability to evaluate a company's e-commerce strategy and to judge whether it will contribute to sales and profitability or just serve as an expensive form of advertising.

I am currently working for the Chicago Tribune in their Advertising Operations Department. At the Tribune, I am devoting much of my time to two main projects; the pagination of all advertisments that run in the paper and an Intranet based adtracking system. Since the Tribune is a 24/7 operation (and thus my job), I and quite glad that this is my last quarter in the MBA program at Depaul.

I didn't expect to change my focus this late in the program, but I had to go with what excited me the most and what was absolutely HOT in the marketplace. I work for a corporate software company, Computer Associates. We sell technology that enables businesses to run, including running their Websites. I am concentrating in MIS, and hope to gain knowledge in this class that I can take to my clients about how to be successful in their e-commerce ventures. Hello Classmates! This is my second ecommerce course with Matt. The first class helped jump start me into the web. I hope the second brings vast opportunity and a wealth of understanding. I am currently a PeopleSoft consultant for TransTech, a rapidly growing ERP and Ecommerce consulting company. Hopefully soon I will make the transition to Ebusiness. Learn, get excited, and profit!

I am a Marketing Manager at Harley-Davidson Credit & Insurance. We provide financing and insurance products for Harley riders and Dealers. My concentration is in Marketing. I have only had limited use with the Internet and Ecommerce. In this class I hope to gain an understanding of how to evalute Ecommerce issues and opportunities in relationship to overall business strategies.

I work for Baxter Healthcare doing enterprise-wide web-based training projects. My goal is to venture into global project management within the Internet Commerce/Information Systems group. I'm looking foward to working with Versaggi again to further build upon my strategic management skills of technical and web-based projects.

I am graduating in June (finally) with my MS in MIS. I am employed at Brinson Partners, Inc. as a Manager of Database Operations, Private Markets Division. Currently, I support MS Sql Server, Informix, R:BASE, and Onyx systems. I am currently working on Intranet solutions for these databases. Since this is my 3rd Ecommerce course at DePaul (MIS680 and IS555), I am hoping to get a better view and insight into how to manage web projects. Web projects have much shorter development lifecycles and are revamped nearly every 6 months to keep the sites from getting stale. Eventually, my firm will be moving to more Internet development for clients and this course will help.

I presently work as a broker for a intl' bank on the floor of the Chgo Merc Exchange. This is an industry that is so close to being fazed out completely by electronic trading/commerce that I am to be a human sponge in this class so as to understand where this industry is going and how I can learn more to fit into it.

Electronic Commerce will transform the market place. It already has in some respects, but pornography isn't the only market that will be revolutionized. Currently, I am a Project Leader in Information Technology at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. I deploy and (prefer) to design computer applications for the Federal Reserve System. The FRS is moving from client/server based applications to web-based, and I am on the bandwagon. I hope in the next two years to escape the perils of bureacracy and venture out on my own where my creativity will really be put to use. I'm a systems auditor with a focus on systems infrastructure (operating systems, hardware, systems software, and voice/data networks) for BANK ONE Corporation (the old First Chicago). My concentration is an MBA-MIS. I hope to gain a better understanding of the risks to a corporation of having an Internet presence (and ways to mitigate those risks--encryption, hard-tokens), and learn some really cool web tricks to impress my friends and neighbors!

I am a Senior LAN Analyst for the Risk Services division of AON Corp. I install, maintain and support NetWare & NT servers, desktop operating systems and applications. I've worked for 10+ years in the IT field with experience in academic and governmental organizations as well as public and private companies. I'm in the MBA program at DePaul, concentrating in MIS. I am a Senior Internet Solutions Advisor for EnterAct, L.L.C., a local ISP. I am familiar with many of the technical aspects of the web but am not very familiar with web design and design tools. I am looking to gain experience using PGP encryption techniques as well as become familiar with web design. I guess I also need to learn a little more about the history of the Internet!

I am an Associate Marketing Manager at SPSS, Inc. SPSS is a software company developing applications to help companies make better decisions with their data. Historically, these products have been statistical applications. My MBA concentration is Entrepreneurship. I hope to eventually become an independent consultant in online marketing.

I work for The Cherry Corporation in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin as Manager, Engineering Systems. I manage the CAD, and PDM systems. This includes all hardware, software and network issues. My MBA concentration is MIS,primarily focusing on project management issues. I hope to learn as much as possible about the internet, and intranet since my company is considering developing an intranet. I will graduate in June 1999.

I am a Senior Consultant for an IT consulting firm in the Chicago area. The majority of my work has been in custom development of client server systems on the East Coast. I will complete my MBA at DePaul this quarter. From this class, I would like to better understand the back-end of ECommerce and how the technical architecture supports the business vision.

I am an MBA student in international business with a secondary focus in entrepreneurship. My choice to return to school was to change my careers path and to increase my earning capacity. I am an MBA student in international business with a secondary focus in entrepreneurship. My choice to return to school was to change my careers path and combine science and business. My undergarduate work is in biological sciences with additional focus on zoology and chemistry. I have worked as a microbiologist for several years in different institutions. I have also worked in customer service, production and in sales.

I've been invited by Matt Versaggi to sit in on this fascinating course. As a novice to the Internet, I anticipate learning all I can about electronic commerce.

I am currently working with my brother in the security industry. We own a very small company which we started about two years ago. I have been at Depaul for two years and at the rate I am going it will be another two years until I finish.

I am currently a PeopleSoft Consultant at The Revere Group. I have been there since the middle of August 1998 and hope to stay there a long time. I hope to get a strong background in electronic commerce and understand how to create a web page in this course as well as continue to improve upon my communication skills.

I work for a company headquartered in Naperville called Unitech Systems, Inc. We are a software company that provides information integrity solutions to Fortune 1000 comapnies. I am the sole rep to our International Teams in our home office. I graduated form Benedictine University with a degree in International Business in Economics. I am currently pursuing an MBA degree here at DePaul with a concentration in MIS. I am planning on completng my degree by the end of the Spring term. From what I have reviewed so far it looks like we have a great line-up of people in our class!! Many interesting and varied backgrounds - I think our discussions in class should be good. As fas as what I hope to get out of this class... I hope to become more proficient in utilizing the internet as the powerful research tool it is. Prensently, I am a financial Consultant at Blue Cross & Blue Shield Association. My concentration at Depaul is somewhat different from the typical gradurate student. I have a double concentration, MIS and Operational Math.

I work for Northrop Grumman Corporation as a software engineer. I have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and am on the final quarter of my MS MIS program. Since I already possess the technical skills to produce a web page, I am hoping to gain a good understanding of the business theory of the Internet and how to design and implement a successful E-commerce strategy. I would also like to learn the impact that the Internet has and will have on the global Economy. Additionally, I would like to obtain an understanding for different types of Internet applications and when they should be used to remain competitive or gain a strategic advantage.

Currently, I am a programmer/analyst for the consulting firm of Whittman-Hart, Inc. I develop software in RPG on the AS/400 platform, a midrange system. This is my last class in the MBA program, in which I have a concentration in MIS. I hope to obtain some techincal aspects of e-commerce, but also the thinikng and theory behind e-commmerce in the business arena.

My name is Shehzad Khoja. I am a Microsoft Certified Professional (Windows NT Workstation). I am currently studying to become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. My undergradaute degree is in accounting. I am pursuing an MBA with a concentration in MIS. I have taken one course in Electronic Commerce as an undergraduate student. Hopefully, this class will build on that foundation. I am fascinated with how the Internet has changed the way the world functions. I enjoy creating web pages and hopefully, I will learn new concepts to enhance my web page abilities.

I am a manager in a call center for First Card, the credit card issuing subsidiary of First Chicago NBD (soon to be Bank One). I manage the dispute resolution side of the business which handles incoming calls from customers who have some sort of problem with their credit card bills. I am pursuing a concentration in Operations Management. I hope to learn more about how the Internet will play an important role in the credit card world as it relates to e-commerce and to servicing cardmembers. In particular, I would like to learn more about how we will be able to better serve our customers via the Internet. We currently service customers through phone inquiries and I believe the Internet will continue to grow as a medium for customers to contact us with all types of inquiries. I want to be able to service the inquiries initiated via the Internet in a simple and secure environment.

I am a application development project manager at Searle--a pharmaceutical company in Skokie, IL. My undergraduate degree was from Indiana University - Business/MIS concentration. I would like to learn a lot more about various Internet concepts starting from scratch since I have only been exposed to the Internet through browsers and discussing it with some web developers at my company. I am employed by Acxiom/May & Speh and I perform network and e-mail administration plus third-level PC support(and of course other duties as assigned) at American National Can near O'Hare. I hope to learn more about the Internet, web design, and e-commerce from this class and also how to perform better research via the Internet.

I work in the Information Technology division at CNA Re. My current job consists of trouble-shooting computer/network problems. I would like to gain a better understanding of the internet/intranet, especially since CNA is already positioning itself for business over the internet. I would also like to know if there are specific design rules for web sites, just like there are gui guidelines for windows applications.

Sr. Consumer Relations Rep, Midas Inc. Handle variety of consumer issues, and oversee all CR issues from our website. My concentration is MIS, and I hope to find work consulting when I complete this degree in November. From this course, I'd like to explore how money is made on the web,what the economics are, and what forms of currency are and will be accepted for exchange.

I hope to get a "real world" understanding of what affects and could potentially affect e-commerce. Working in the technical arena as a programmer does not always open my eyes to the new and exciting technological advances. Many of my co-workers know the jargon of some new technologies. My excuse is that between work and school, I don't have time to surf the web! I think that this class will be very useful and rewarding. Thanks!

My undergraduate degree was in mechanical engineering. I recently decided to concentrate in MIS. I was going to pursue marketing. The reason for the change was that I concluded it is too difficult to learn and keep up with MIS in a non-structured environment (or without some help). I could always pick a book up and learn the marketing side of business. I would like to be somewhat entreprenuerial. I might decide to take over a family business. The business side of MIS is not only interesting but will position me well against the competition in whatever avenue I pursue. I am a full time student due to graduate with a degree in Entrepreneurship in June of 1998. My background has been concentrated in manufacturing and my last venture consisted of statring a company that manufacturers handle shopping bags. You may have seen the Warner Brothers Studio store bags with buggs bunny. Working toward the MBA to fill out my education even though it is not needed. I expect to gain additional insights to the principles of business although I have 30+ years experience. Classes thus far have added value to my understanding of the foundation of the decisions made for years. I expect to understand the technical and business applications of the Internet as there are current projects I am the sponsor of and have an interest in the technical side of the apps.

I work for the General Services Administration, Property Acquisition and Realty Services Divison (PARS). This is an agency of the Federal Government that is responsible for leasing office sites for other Government agencies. I also manage various federal buildings located throughout a five state region. I'm in my last quarter of the MBA program and my concentration is in MIS. I hope to take from this class a better understanding of the internet, how to create a web page, methods to provide security for web pages, and lots of fun and interesting things -- such as the dancing baby. I currently work at McGladrey and Pullen, as a financial consultant. I have my CPA and an accounting degree in undergrade. In gaining an understanding of my clients, I have began to realize the importance of technology in present(meeting current needs) and in the future ( will this company be able to remain competative?). From this class, I want to find out how business is working over the internet and how and when companies should consider this new avenue.

I am currently pursuing a Masters in MIS. My professional background includes four years at Arthur Andersen in their tax consulting practice, two years as a manager (of a department which acts as a liason between operations and systems ), and the past year in the systems department involved in several diverse projects. What I would, ideally, like to do in this class is to go through the process of :determining a business problem, assessing its alternatives, creating a product (e.g., a web page, intranet ), and producing the deliverables to executive management/client.

I am pursuing my Master of Science in Management Information Systems degree. I started the program in Spring '97 and hope to finish by Spring '99. My background is in Sales and Use Tax and am trying to make a career change to the systems arena as a systems analyst. We are beginning to do more business on the internet and using it as a way of obtaining information about participants from the client. I am a commercial loan officer for LaSalle National Bank . I lend to non-bank financial services companies (credit card, leasing, mortgage, automobile). I am a double major in Finance and MIS with an Bachelors in Accounting. I have a strong interest in computers and the internet and how they effect and change businesses both good and bad. I am programmer for a fastener manufacturer. I read the trade press and find that my company doesn't necessarily keep up with what is available now. I need help sorting the wheat from the chaf, to know what is relevent to keep my skills up.

I am both an Office Manager and Information Systems Manager for School Health Corporation. School Health currently has a web site. We have a lot of exciting plans which involve putting our catalog on the web, electronic ordering for our customers, etc. We are also looking at possibly setting up an intranet for the company. I work for a Biotech Company, Gilead Sciences as an Anti-Viral Specialist. My company is doing research and developing medications in the HIV area. I market the company's products to physicians who work in this field. I am a MBA student with a double concentration of Marketing and M.I.S. I work as a Senior Financial Analyst for Wilson Team Sports. My division markets baseballs, ball gloves, basketballs, footballs, and uniforms. Very little of what I do is on the net. I am currently working at Hewlett Packard as a Sales Finance Representative. I sell lease and finance programs to commercial customers that purchase our equipment. I have been with HP over five years and am pursuing an MBA in finance. This class is an elective and I hope to learn much more about electronic commerce. HP has invested heavily in this technology and there are many opportunities. I want to know more about the business challenges and growth opportunities with electronic commerce.

Currently, I supervise shipping and order processing for a mid-size publishing company. My MBA emphasis is now MIS. I've enjoyed designing and implimenting some in-house database applications for my department at work. That experience and MIS500 has sparked my interest in making a career change to an IT field. I work as an analyst in the Loans and Reserves department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. You may recall from your Money and Banking class that the Fed has a function known as the Discount Window which makes overnight loans to other banks. That's what my department does. I will be completing my MBA this June with a degree in finance. I consider myself a novice at tapping the resources of the Internet; I've ben an active user for only a few months. My expectations for this class are to gain a better under- standing of the vast resources available on the Internet and to hopefully get a preview of what future technologies may be developing now.

My current resposibilities include managing the construction of a hospital for the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) , a golf course club house for the Dupage County Forest Preserve District (our meetings are held on Fridays) , and multiple ADA compliance projects for UIC. My profound statement of the anticipated utility gained from this course would include : To remove the mask of mystery from the use of the Internet which would then open my eyes to opportunities and join those who are on the forefront of this technology. I am employed for Brunswick Corp. in Lake Forest, Il as a tax specialist. My responsibilities include reporting the federal tax liability for various legal entities. I am interested in learning how to use this method of communication to increase efficiencies in my job. I also feel it is important to continue updating my skills related to computer technology. I work at Motorola. I am working in the Greater China Organization in the Cellular Sector. I was in Beijing for 6 months and I think that there are numerous opportunities in ecommerce and I would like to learn an apply solutions for my group.

I am an accountant with UOP, a chemical manufacturer that sweetens gasoline. I recently passed the CPA, and am primarily looking to increase my knowledge of the internet, so that I can attest to security of websites.

I currently work for Zebra Technologies located in Vernon Hills, IL. Zebra is the world's leading manufacturer of on-demand thermal transfer barcode printers. I work in the Engineering department as a Sr. Quality Assurance Analyst testing the actual firmware that goes into each printer. The firmware is similar to software that is embedded in EEPROM or flash memory. The code is written in C and Assembler. I am working towards my MS degree in MIS. I am hoping to get out of the Engineering department and eventually move into IS at Zebra or at another company. I hope to learn more about doing business over the Internet in this class and its future ramifications from an economic view as well as a reengineering approach.

Right now I work for Amoco Corporation in the Treasury Department as a Cash Management Analyst. My concentration at DePaul is Finance and MIS. I expect to get from the class a good perspective of what issues are out there regarding e-commerce from the "banking industry's" perspective.

After working for a couple of years in the health care industry, I decided to go to DePaul College of Law. I am almost complete with the JD/MBA program with a concentration in MIS. While I'm looking forward to practicing law, I've found my MBA experiences invaluable in understanding the legal needs of my clients. From this class, I hope to get a better sense of managerial and technical issues posed by the Internet.

My name is Matt Tobin and I work for a telecommunications consulting firm called Vail Systems, where I am an account manager. Vail Systems configures and manages the communications' efforts of large organizations. My current concentration is Management but I am 99% sure that I will go for a dual concentration in Management and MIS. This is only my third class in the MBA program, so right now I don't even see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am mainly a "business person" at work, but I deal with a multitude of programmers, network managers, and other technical professionals. These people have made me realize how much I need to learn since my knowledge of IT is rather general. I am taking this class first and foremost because it will contain some fascinating and IMPORTANT topics. This class can help me get a good idea about where I should concentrate my long-term professional efforts. In the short-run this class will enable me to have an intelligent conversation with others on a variety of IT topics. I feel this class will help me more than any accounting class ever could.

I'm close to completing an MBA with an MIS concentration. My professional experience is as an accountant in a corporate setting. I'm hoping this class will open up additional ideas for a new direction for me professionally.

I have been working as a Senior Programmer Analyst for Reuters for the last five years. Reuters is the world's largest news and financial information provider. You have probably seen their by-lines all over the Internet. My job is in developing software for delivering real-time financial information and news to the trading room floors of large banks and brokerage houses. Reuters is quickly pursuing opportunities for delivery of such information to the Internet, and as such, I would like to learn about the techinical as well as non-technical issues of doing so. My MBA concentration is in MIS, and I am looking forward (very much) to graduation this June. I have had a lot of exposure to the Internet...6 years ago, I met my husband there. :)

I work for GiSO (Grainger Integrated Supply Operations), a division of W.W. Grainger, Inc. as a Financial Analyst. My professional background is accounting and finance, however, beginning this month I will be transitioning to a team charged with implementing SAP. My concentration at DePaul is currently Finance, but that may change. My IT knowledge is limited, and for too long I have shyed away from cultivating a comfort level with new technology (i.e. the Internet). Especially after our first session, I am confident that this course will go a long way in building my IT confidence, and I am excited about the opportunity to face my fears of the seemingly overly technical world of IT.

I am pursuing my MBA with an emphasis in MIS. I own my own computer consulting firm. I specialize in Client/Server and Web development. Currently I am working for a large insurance firm, assisting them in re-writing a Client/Server development architecture to be web enabled. We are using Java & CORBA. I have recently resigned from my position as senior consultant with Keane, Inc to pursue my MBA studies. Believe it or not, I was working for a company which is moving towards mainframe work. They have become heavily involved in Year 2000 and application outsourcing work. Not my idea of fun so I quit. Now I'm taking this class to back into the fun things of IT.

I am a Technical Support Analyst at Andersen Worldwide. I provide both software and network support for the firm. As my job currently becomes more internet focused, I am hoping to gain increased knowledge of the internet, to help me in my career. In addition I need to gain an understanding of how the internet will shape my career, so I can prepare for the future.

I am an MBA student at Depaul, and am concentrating in MIS. Professionally, I am a Senior Research Engineer for an Industrial Equipment manufacturing company. Recently, I have become the Internet/Intranet project manager for my company. The plan for this year is to provide many services through the site. These services include, discussion forums, sales transactions, technical support and Video Conferencing Through this class I hope to solidify my understanding of electronic commerce, and gain some knowledge on the most effective methods to design and promote the site and its contents.

Currently employed at IBM as an Executive Analyst. I am taking 6 courses (because I have no social life) to finish my MS in Information Systems with a Database concentration. I will be done (if I survive) in March. I have no Internet Dvlpmt experience. Current projects are using Lotus Notes, Microsoft Access, and Visual Basic. I may end up in San Jose in April or an MBA program in fall.

I am attending school full time to complete the joint degree in MS in MIS. I left Northern Trust in July, 1997 where I was the Project Manager for the Daily Accounting Operations Department. I also wanted to enjoy a year off while pursuing my educational goals to enjoy life after being employed for 16 years (it is to the envy of all my friends that I can golf at 7:00 AM on a Wednesday and motorcycle to Wisconsin on Tuesday mornings). My hope is that this class will provide me with insite to managing the use of the Internet and finding out when it should be used as a business tool (when does it provide a competitive advantage). I have the technical knowledge of the Internet, but lack the management aspects.

This is the first Class Registry entry of the winter quarter. Last QTR's class was a blast, they learned alot, worked hard, and also had a bunch of fun in the process of getting good grades.

My goal here is to learn how companies use the web and the universe of possibilities of its application; what obstacles I need to covercome in selling the concept of a web or site expansion to a client/company; and how to develop site concepts with client/customers. I work for First Chicago NBD Investment Management Company, the investment arm of First Chicago NBD Corp. I am the product manager in charge of marketing the company's 401(k) products and services to the Bank's corporate customers. I am pursuing an MBA in Marketing and should finish by the summer of next year. Top management at our company has taken a cautious approach to the use of the Internet. This is surprising given the Bank's agressive use of this technology in other areas. I hope this course will allow me to make a better business case for the Internet.

I do not have a lot of computer background but I would like to learn more of IT because of its importance in the society today. I work for United States Cellular Corporation in the Systems Management department as a business analyst. Some of my responsibilities include documentation of disaster recovery efforts, developing scenarios for system performance testing, implementing them, and analyzing results. I plan to graduate from the DePaul MBA program this winter with an emphasis in MIS. Through this course, I hope to gain a better all-around understanding of the internet and its potential for use in the businessworld in the future.

I work for Ameritech Advanced Data Services (AADS) which provides fast packet digital data services for business customers. Services include Frame Relay, SMDS, and ATM. I am responsible for the cost structure of the various services AADS offers. I also am responsible for the Capital Budget, I act as the liason between the Financial side and the Technical Network side of the business, and tackle several special projects impacting the financials of AADS. This quarter (Autumn '97) is my final quarter at DePaul. I will receive my MBA w/ a concentration in International Business. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from UIC. I was hoping to learn about the fundamentals of developing web sites, although it seems we will not get into this. I am also expecting to learn about where the technology is going to go in the next 5 to 10 years.

I work as an underwriter for Intercargo Insurance Company. Intercargo specializes in performance and payment bond for construction contractors. My job entails underwriting construction companies and determining whether to issue bonds on their behalf for their various projects. The performance and payment bond give an 100% guarantee to the owner of the project the job will be completed per the contract. The bonds also guarantees all subcontractors and suppliers who have performed on the job will get paid. Intercargo is involved in automating the underwriting and issuance process for the bonds. Currently, our clients, insurance agents, dial into our network and request and issue bonds in their office while on line with Intercargo. By automating the bond process, we have improved the efficiency of the agent as well as reduce Intercargo’s processing cost. What I expect to get out of this class is a better understanding on how Intercargo can further develop our automation system. We are looking at developing a web for our customers. This is my second class within my M.B.A concentration with the first being telecommunication management. While I do not have any software programming experience, I would like to acquire internet skills to help develop Intercargo’s automation process.

I am a manager within the IT Finance organization with CNA. My interest in this course is to further some basic understanding of the internet, but more importantly to learn more about the issues and challenges of using this great technology effectively both as an individual and as an influencer in setting policies and guidelines for how it is used at work. My perception is that the internet is a technology that, in addition to improvements in technology, it needs to have more management influence for effective application to business and home use problems. I'm hopeful that this class will help with this.

I am an investment portfolio analyst at Phoenix Duff & Phelps Investment Management. Obviously my concentration is finance. In my job, I need to be able to look into the future and describe the business climate for a given company, so I am excited about the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of e commerce and how it will shape the future business world.
