    Brint's Electronic Commerce & Electronic Markets Resources
    The Business Research in Information and Technology home page (@BRINT) by Ph. D. candidate Yogesh Malhotra is a Council Partner of the U.S. Federal Government Inter-Agency Benchmarking & Best Practices Council. Mr. Malhotra has built a vast collection of resources addressing electronic commerce and assembled them here complete with descriptions. The Electronic Commerce and Electronic Markets page features Papers, Books, Bibliographies, Other Electronic Markets & Electronic Commerce Resources on the WWW, Small Business & Home Business Resources, and Some Players in Electronic Markets & Electronic Commerce.
     
    Center for Electronic Commerce
    The Industrial Technology Institute is an independent organization that partners with federal and state government entities, private enterprise, and industry organizations to assist manufacturers in increasing productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Institute's Center for Electronic Commerce develops, tests, and pilots integration methods and tools for best practices in order to assure successful integration of supply chains. Users can access a number of downloadable EC Tools for STEP testing and browse reports, projects, and pilots.
     
    CommerceNet
    CommerceNet is the leading industry consortium dedicated to accelerating the growth of Internet commerce. Its members include banks, telecommunications companies and online services, software and service companies and major end-users. CommerceNet is a sponsor of CommerceNet Global Partners Summit '97. One of the missions of the summit is to shape the world's electronic commerce standards.
     
    CyberAtlas
    CyberAtlas is a comprehensive source for World Wide Web usage and marketing statistics. A highlight of this site is the segment on e-commerce. CyberAtlas also provides links to many of the organizations that supply the usage and demographic data to the site.
     
    Data Interchange Standards Association (DISA)
    DISA is a not-for-profit organization that supports the development and use of EDI (electronic data interchange) standards in electronic commerce. This site includes a reference desk, containing standards information and an EDI glossary, as well as a section containing information on international standards for EDI.
     
    EDI-InfoNet
    Washington Publishing Company (WPC), publisher of the ec/edi Insider, specializes in managing and distributing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) information, primarily in the form of documentation for organizations that develop, maintain, and implement EDI standards. Users can download the ANSI ASC X12N implementation guides and a number of healthcare/EDI related resources, or browse selected full-text articles from the ec/edi Insider on topics ranging from International electronic commerce to UNEDIFACT standards.
     
    Electronic Commerce and the European Union
    The European Commission site is part of the G7 Global Information Network whose goal is to present a variety of information on the latest developments in electronic commerce in the European Union and abroad. Information contained in the "G7 Initiatives" section on electronic commerce includes the full-text of conference reports and papers including The Global Information Network for Small and Medium Enterprises and Government Online Services for SMEs: Review of Web Sites and Recommendations. The "What Is EC" section provides users with a definition of electronic commerce, data, statistics, and references. Users can also view documents on a variety of electronic commerce issues such as legal, payments, security, technology, and multilingualism.
     
    Electronic Commerce Innovation Centre
    Funded by British Telecommunications PLC and managed by Professor Tony Davies, the Electronic Commerce Innovation Centre has had a key role in developing and promoting EDI standards for international and domestic trade. The Center has worked in close collaboration with the Electronic Commerce Association (UK), the European Board for EDIFACT Standards, and the UN/ECE Working Party for International Trade Facilitation. This site is split into 4 main categories that include an Overview of ECIC, ECIC Projects, ECIC Services and Information.
     
    Electronic Commerce World Institute
    The Electronic Commerce World Institute is an independent, international non-profit organization that addresses the strategic business issues relating to electronic data interchange (EDI) and electronic commerce (EC) around the world. The "Resource Center" houses the bulk of the information including case studies, internet resources and selected full text articles from the EDI WIndow, and KEYS to Electronic Commerce. A listing of international electronic commerce periodicals is categorized by country and region and includes links to sources available on the Internet.
     
    Electronic Commerce World Magazine
    Electronic Commerce World (formerly EDI World) is a monthly magazine of electronic commerce that covers developments in electronic commerce implementation, financial EDI, electronic messaging, workflow automation and imaging. Users can access a feature article from the current edition, information on conferences, and a catalog of publications.
     
    Electronic Frontier Foundation
    The Electronic Frontier Foundation is a non-profit organization that monitors practice and legislation affecting the Internet. Its goal is to protect privacy, free expression, and access to public resources and information online, as well as to promote responsibility in new media. This site offers a newsletter and comprehensive information on encryption technology and policies.
     
    Federal Electronic Commerce Program
    The Electronic Commerce Program Office was established to coordinate, monitor, and report on the development of Electronic Commerce within the Federal Government. This site serves as the hub linking to a number of federal electronic commerce offices and initiatives EC Statistics and Agency sites and State and Local Government Departments and Agencies. From this site, users can access the Federal Electronic Commerce Library containing EC Reports, Documentation and Regulations.
     
    Global Information Infrastructure Commission
    The Global Information Infrastructure Commission (GIIC) is an independent, non-governmental initiative involving leaders from developing and industrialized countries to promote the development of information networks and services to advance global economic growth. Users can browse a number of full text papers by selecting from topics under the "Issues" heading. Selected full text documents and conference papers are available as well as descriptions of publications available for purchase. Users can also link to a number of International organizations.
     
    Global Information Network for Small and Medium Enterprises
    Launched by the G7 Ministerial Conference on the Information Society, the "Global Information Network for SMEs" was established develop an environment where SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) can expand global commerce through the exchange of information on products, technologies, and human resources by overcoming obstacles of distance and borders. This site offers information on the program and provides links to centers in Japan, U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Italy, U.K. and the European Commission.
     
    IGNet - Internet for the IG Community
    IGnet is the web site of the Inspector General (IG) Community of offices that conduct audits, investigations, and inspections of over 60 Federal agencies, state and local governments, educational institutions and non-profit organizations. Users can download an electronic version of the Government Auditing Standards "Yellow Book." The Single Audit library contains the full-text of OMB Circular A-133 Final Version and Provisional Compliance Supplement, a searchable database containing the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, and other full-text publications relating to the Single Audit. The Federal Audit Executive Council sponsors the EC/EDI page containing audit reports, audit plans, training and conferences, points of contact, existing EC/EDI systems and other resources useful to auditors.
     
    infoTEST International
    The National Information Infrastructure Testbed or NIIT (renamed InfoTEST International in 1996) is a unique non-profit company that tests how world-class corporations and institutions can gain a competitive advantage using Internet technologies. Its mission is to "demonstrate the Internet's potential for strengthening mission-critical business processes and functions to enhance enterprise competitiveness." InfoTEST is supported by more than 30 U.S.-based corporations, government departments and laboratories and universities. InfoTEST also sponsors executive delegations to strategic foreign markets. A number of resources are available under the "News and Information" heading. Users can browse the monthly newsletter, The Bitstream, or view InfoTEST Reports and Speeches, News Article Headlines, (full-text can be requested via e-mail), and Press Releases.
     
    Internet Entrepreneurs Support Service (IESS)
    The IESS is an international association of entrepreneurs who promote entrepreneurial businesses in the use of the Internet for commercial purposes. IESS connects those entrepreneurs looking for with those providing help in doing business on the Internet. One of the features of this site is on online version of the Intrepreneurs newsletter. IESS is sponsored by the Global Entrepreneurs Network, a provider of e-commerce services.
     
    iWORLD's Guide to Electronic Commerce
    This site is billed as a "comprehensive resource for commerce on the internet" that provides links to general articles on electronic commerce, as well as information on electronic advertising. It also provides examples of how the internet is used to promote business by industry groups, consortia and the government. The "resources" section includes information on e-commerce from print sources, mailing lists, research groups, news sources, government regulations, and technology information.
     
    National Automated Clearinghouse Association
    The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) is a not for profit banking trade association with the largest number of member financial institutions in the country. NACHA promulgates the rules and operating guidelines for electronic payments through the ACH Network, and for Electronic Benefits Transfers, electronic checks, financial EDI and cross-border transactions. This site offers fact sheets, news releases, and ACH rules. Information on its various subcommittees is also available. A search feature is included.
     
    National Electronic Commerce Resource Center Program
    The Electronic Commerce Resource Center Program promotes awareness and implementation of Electronic Commerce and related technologies to help manufacturers improve their competitive posture in global markets. This site offers the Technology Development Activity Knowledge Base which provides access to project summaries, reports, sample products, and other materials for those interested in electronic commerce. The ECRC also offers a newsletter and course offerings through a variety of regional centers. The ECRC homepage is maintained by Concurrent Technologies Corporation under a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense.
     
    Open Information Interchange
    The Open Information Interchange (OII) is part of a European Commission program to develop the European multimedia content industry and encourage the use of multimedia content in the emerging information society. This site provide a comprehensive list of standards and specifications. It also offers access to conference reports and workshop proceedings, as well as links to other international standards bodies and industry consortia. Information on this site is available in 12 languages.
     
     
     
    United Nations Trade Point Development Center
    The Trade Point Program (UNCTAD) allows users to access competitive trade-related information services worldwide. Trade Points bring together providers of services required to make a commercial transaction. This site hosts a vast amount of resources, but is very difficult to navigate. The Global Trade Point Network allows all connected countries and enterprises to exchange 'ETOs' (Electronic Trading Opportunities), as well as other types of information regarding existing trade regulations, banking practices and market intelligence. The Electronic Trading Opportunities (ETO) System provides access to offers and demands for products, services, and investment. The Trade Efficiency Library is a virtual library containing a vast amount of information on Trade Efficiency compiled by the United Nations.
     
    United States Government Electronic Commerce Policy
    Sponsored by the Department of Commerce, the Electronic Commerce Policy website provides information on U.S. efforts to increase global electronic commerce. Users can download the full text of recent reports such as the Framework for Global Electronic Commerce, the Emerging Digital Economy, and more. Links to key U.S. and international electronic commerce sites are also provided.
